A lovely registered FDC from Myanmar. I love the cover very much as its a genuine FDC posted from Myanmar. I guess all philatelist will love covers from Myanmar. In addition, the ms is cancelled correctly. What do I mean?

Not all will agree with me but if you ask my opinion, I believe a ms has to be cancelled both on the stamp (refer to the CDS) and on the cover itself (refer to the blue cancel). This is because you can always used a CTO on the cover and if you ask me that is not genuine. Franking a cover with CTO is practiced in many countries even in Malaysia. Though many collectors/philatelist take lightly of this scenario, I tend to appreciate if friends could put 2 cancels on a ms.

I would like to know what others think about this? Please comment.

This is a lovely FDC from Czech Republic. Though not a bird cover, I still love this posted FDC for its simplicity. The cachet is definitely something interesting. LOL

FDC

What a lovely FDC on Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris (Cathédrale Notre-Dame) issued on 26th September 1981. I love the FDC alot for it truly compliments my Church theme. Hope to get more materials on Churches around the world.

Information:

The Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris (Cathédrale Notre-Dame), located in the Fourth Distric, is one of the cathedrals oldest French Gothic style, was begun in 1163 and was completed in 1245. Dedicated to Mary, Mother of Jesus (hence the name Notre Dame, Notre Dame), sits in the tiny IIle de la Cite in Paris, France, which is surrounded by the river Seine.

The cathedral appears intimately tied to the idea of Gothic splendor, a clear effect on the needs and aspirations of society at the time, a new approach to the cathedral as a building contact and spiritual ascent. The architecture Gothic is a powerful tool within a society that sees, in the beginning of the 11 centurey, transformed urban life at an accelerated pace. The city re-emerges with utmost importance in the political field, in the economic field (mirror of the growing trade relationship), rising also, for its part, the bourgeoisie and the influence of wealthy clergy center. The result is a substitution also needs religious building outside the cities, rural communities monarchical for the new symbol of urban prosperity, the Gothic cathedral. And in answer to the search for a new dignity growing within France, there is the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris.

Stresses particularly the magnificent Cavaille-Coll organ, being the place of organist of Notre-Dame one of the highest honors that can aspire to an organist. This place was occupied by the great French organist and composer Louis Vierne between 1900 and 1937, when it is remembered as the greatest splendor of the Cathedral as a center of artistic and musical.

Indeed a Work of Art

Personalized Bird Cover

This is indeed a work of art. Thanks Karan for this very beautiful cover franked with my favourite India stamp, Asiatic Paradise Flycatcher. This has truly inspired me to create my own covers with bird stamps on it. Will showcase them very very soon. LOL...

Above is one of my personal favorites. Asiatic Paradise Flycatcher with its young. Simply an amazing picture.

Source: http://www.aksuinn.com/eng/gallery/birds/asiatic-paradise--flycatcher-terpsihpone-paradisi

Information:

The Asiatic Paradise-flycatcher also known as the Common Paradise-flycatcher, is a medium-sized passerine bird.

The typical adult male Asiatic Paradise-flycatcher is about 20 cm long, but the long tail streamers double this. It has a glossy black crown and crest, blue eye-ring and a long narrow rounded tail. The body and wings are white with very long central pair of tail feathers which form streamers that droop.

The Asiatic Paradise-flycatcher is a noisy bird with a sharp skreek call. It has short legs and sits very upright whilst perched prominently, like a shrike. It is insectivorous, hunting by flycatching in the understory. They bathe in small pools of water in the afternoon by diving from perches.

Snow Basilica FDC 2007

Thanks for this very beautiful FDC that compliments my church themes. Simply love it alot.

Information:

Name:
Snows Basilica

Issue date: 2007 December 25th

The Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health is located at the small town of Velankanni in the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India. The Roman Catholic Basilica is devoted to Our Lady of Good Health. Devotion to Our Lady of Good Health of Velankanni can be traced to the mid-16th century and is attributed to three miracles: the apparition of Mary and the Christ Child to a slumbering shepherd boy, the curing of a lame buttermilk vendor, and the rescue of Portuguese sailors from a violent sea storm.

Although all three apparitions ultimately resulted in the erection of a shrine to our Lady, it was the promise of the Portuguese sailors that was the proximate cause of a permanent edifice being built at Velankanni. The chapel was dedicated on the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (September 8), the day of their safe landing. More than 500 years later, the nine-day festival and celebration is still observed and draws nearly 2 million pilgrims each year. The Shrine of Our Lady of Vailankanni, also known as the "Lourdes of the East," is one of the most frequented religious sites in India.

From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU PREMA for all this beautiful FDCs and postcards you got me. I cant seem to find the right words to say but I truly appreciate all your effort and support for my sometimes crazy obsession on philately.

Ive to admit there are times when I feel tired and sad to see my precious stamps get toned or attacked by fungus. Suprise? Dont be... Its actually a dilemma face by all tropical countries' philatelists. Toning is rather normal in countries like Malaysia thanks to her humid weather. A lot of care and attention have to be given and at times, it just drive you crazy to see stamps get toned or damaged.

I guess one of the reasons that keep pushing me towards philately would be the enormous support I got from my fiancee, family (Thanks mummy for being so patient with me all this while) and not forgetting friends mattering not whether they are philatelist or not.

I know Prema has gone into loads of trouble for getting me these FDCs and postcards especially when you are not a philatelist... I guess THANK YOU is all I can say and thanks for the support to keep me going.

FDCs

All this FDCs are simply marvelous... yes, some may argue that they don't compliment my themes but when its a sincere gift from a friend, I guess all those themes don't matter much after all.

The St. Alphosa FDC is truly an asset to my Christian Collection. However, am abit disappointed that there's a pen mark on the stamp (left side). Nway, still like the FDC alot and thanks for helping me grow my Christian collection.
